Veggies to Table is a mainly volunteer run farm.

Aside from our farm manager and a small crew, everyone working on the farm is a volunteer, from the founders Erica and Alain, to gleaners, high school students, WWOOFers, and retired community members. Veggies to Table could not exist without this generous and invaluable assistance.

Our volunteers take on a variety of tasks on the farm, ranging from field work like seeding, weeding, and harvesting to administrative, delivery, and fix-it-crew tasks. Read more about various volunteer opportunities below.

Veggies to Table hopes to provide every volunteer with an opportunity to meet and connect with community members and like-minded individuals. We are on hand to assist, chat and discover together so every experience here on the farm is valuable. Thanks to the many different volunteers on the farm, our community has grown and thrived along with the produce.

Volunteer Opportunities

Fieldwork

Most of our volunteers help out on the farm doing tasks such as seed starting, weeding, pruning, transplanting, harvesting, cleaning and sorting vegetables, mulching, thinning, placing row covers, and whatever other farm chores present themselves on that day! Field work provides a great chance to learn new skills, be outdoors, and meet other community members.

Admin

We need volunteers to help with office work, such as grant writing, working on press releases, newsletters, and other administrative tasks. If getting your hands dirty on the farm isn’t your jam, or you aren’t local to us, that’s okay because we’s love support with the administrative side of things, including remote volunteering opportunities.

Fix-IT crew

There are always maintenance and repair jobs to be done around the farm. If you are handy with tools, consider joining our “Fix-It Crew.” Jobs may include working on fencing, farm buildings, irrigation, and maintaining our tools.

Mowing

Mowing and weedwhacking are important jobs on the farm. The mowing crew helps maintain pathways, keeps weeds from encroaching on the gardens, and collects the grass clippings to use as mulch.

Event Support

Veggies to Table has plans to expand its event programming, both online and in person. Event support includes a wide variety of tasks such as set up and clean up, tech support for online events, hanging fliers around town, greeting attendees, and more. Veggies to Table will also have occasional pop-up flower stands and informational tables in the community this summer. If being the friendly face of the farm sounds like a good fit for you, we’d love to have you!

Driver

On occasion, we need someone with a vehicle (and sometimes, in particular, a pick-up truck or trailer) to give us a hand. Examples include picking up farm supplies such as soil amendments, hauling a load of wood chips or leaves, or running a delivery to a food pantry if the scheduled driver is unable to do so. These are usually one-time opportunities, so let us know that you are interested in being a driver and we will put you on our list of folks to call or email when the need arises.

Miscellaneous

Do you have a special skill to share with us? If you have an idea of how to help out that isn’t mentioned above, we’d love to hear from you. There are many ways to move our mission forward, and YOUR creativity and ideas are very welcome. Let’s talk! Contact us.

COVID-19 - WE TAKE THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE ON THE FARM VERY SERIOUSLY. WE are ALWAYS SAFE AND CAUTIOUS AND FOLLOW CDC PROTOCOLS.
