DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Veggies to Table, a non-profit grow-to-donate organic farm, is seeking an experienced grant writer, major donor manager, and fundraiser to join our team part-time (with room for expansion). We are a young, fast-growing organization with a small but strong development team, and we are now looking to build up our development strategy with this high-level position.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will work on and provide expertise for grants, major donor management and strategies, fundraising events, major gift and capital campaigns, and more. They will work alongside the development team and the Executive Director through hands-on projects as an advisor and strategist, helping to hone our organizational development approach. This position will be a hybrid role, with some hours required at our Newcastle location.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Grant applications

    • Providing insight and oversight during the grant writing process, including writing and editing drafts and providing feedback to other development team members

    • Researching new grant opportunities 

  • Individual donors

    • Assisting in creating a strategic plan for our donor management as the organization continues to grow

    • Working with the team to streamline donor communications and better utilize our CRM

    • Working on implementing a monthly donor strategy

  • Major gifts and Capital Campaigns

    • Helping create a strategy to cultivate major gifts

    • Helping to organize and run capital campaigns for larger infrastructure projects

  • Appeals

    • Working with the development team to create compelling end of year and spring appeals

  • Events

    • Assisting the development team with event planning, from concept to implementation–for everything from casual flower pop-ups to more formal galas, auctions, concerts, etc.

  • Additional support

    • Developing and implementing strategies to increase awareness of our mission, while engaging and mobilizing supporters in the community.

    • Working with the development team to develop and implement performance metrics and evaluation tools to ensure we are meeting or exceeding fundraising targets and goals

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 7-10 years working in non-profit development

  • Proven track record of receiving grants and writing compelling grant proposals

  • A strong commitment to our organizational mission

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Expertise organizing and running a capital campaign

  • Expertise organizing and running events 

  • Experience with organizational strategic planning

  • Experience with event planning, from concept to implementation–ideally a wide range of events
